Cultural & Youth Exchange Specialist

Role Overview

Responsible for identifying, supporting, and coordinating Chinese cultural and artistic talent in Northern Ontario, while designing and delivering structured cultural and youth exchange programs between Northern Ontario and China.

This role supports cultural education, youth development, and cross-cultural understanding through public, non-political, and community-oriented programs.


Key Responsibilities

Cultural & Artistic Talent Support

  • Identify and support Chinese cultural, artistic, and educational talent within Northern Ontario

  • Assist with the establishment of arts courses, cultural studios, and community-based cultural programs

  • Support the development of martial arts, dance, music, theatre, and other cultural initiatives


Cultural Activities & Youth Programs

  • Organize cultural performances, exhibitions, martial arts and dance programs, and youth cultural activities

  • Design and deliver youth-focused cultural learning, training, and exchange programs

  • Support cultural programming in collaboration with schools, community centers, and cultural organizations


Institutional Cooperation & Cultural Exchange

  • Facilitate structured cooperation between Northern Ontario cultural organizations and Chinese cultural institutions

  • Coordinate cultural exchanges, exhibitions, performances, competitions, festivals, and joint programs

  • Support study visits, cultural tours, and short-term exchange or learning programs


Program Coordination & Delivery

  • Coordinate schedules, partnerships, and implementation of cultural and youth exchange activities

  • Maintain communication with schools, cultural institutions, community organizations, and partners

  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and outcome summaries for programs and funding requirements


Recruitment Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Arts, Culture, Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field

  • 2–5 years of experience in cultural programming, youth initiatives, or international exchange projects

  • Strong organizational, coordination, and cross-cultural communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with cultural organizations, schools, or non-profit institutions

  • Familiarity with Canada–China cultural or youth exchange frameworks

  • Professional working proficiency in English; Mandarin proficiency is a strong asset

  • Experience supporting publicly funded or community-based programs
