Communications & Media Specialist

Role Overview

Responsible for the Chamber’s overall communications strategy, media relations, and public outreach, including coverage and reporting of Chamber-organized activities, programs, and initiatives.

This role ensures that the Chamber’s work is clearly communicated, properly documented, and publicly visible across websites, social media, and partner media channels, while maintaining full compliance with government funding, branding, and disclosure requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy & Media Relations

  • Develop and implement the Chamber’s overall communications and public outreach strategy

  • Coordinate media partnerships with local, regional, and ethnic media outlets

  • Prepare press materials, announcements, and public communications related to Chamber programs and events


Chamber Coverage & Reporting

  • Cover, document, and report on Chamber-organized activities, including meetings, trade missions, exhibitions, cultural programs, and community events

  • Prepare written summaries, photo documentation, and event highlights for public release

  • Ensure accurate, neutral, and professional representation of Chamber initiatives


Digital Platforms & Social Media Management

  • Manage and update the Chamber’s website and digital platforms

  • Plan, publish, and maintain content across social media channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram, WeChat, Xiaohongshu, YouTube, etc.)

  • Publish timely updates and post-event reports related to Chamber activities and programs


Content Production & Documentation

  • Produce promotional and results-based content, including articles, visuals, and basic video documentation

  • Support simple video recording, editing, and captioning for events and program highlights

  • Maintain a structured archive of communications and media assets


Funding Compliance & Public Disclosure

  • Ensure all communications meet government funding requirements related to branding, acknowledgements, visibility, and public disclosure

  • Apply correct use of logos, funding acknowledgements, and disclaimer language

  • Support reporting and communications deliverables required by funding agencies


Recruitment Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field

  • 2–5 years of experience in communications, media relations, or digital content management

  • Strong written communication skills and attention to accuracy


Core Competencies

  • Ability to manage multi-channel communications and social media platforms

  • Experience covering and reporting organizational activities and public events

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills

  • Understanding of publicly funded program communications and compliance requirements


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with chambers of commerce, non-profit organizations, or public institutions

  • Familiarity with government-funded project communications

  • Professional working proficiency in English; Mandarin proficiency is a strong asset

  • Basic video recording and editing skills
