Advanced Equipment & Industrial Projects Specialist

Role Overview

Responsible for coordinating cooperation initiatives related to advanced equipment, robotics, and industrial upgrading, supporting Northern Ontario’s industrial development priorities through structured assessment, feasibility analysis, and early-stage collaboration.

This role serves as a technical and coordination bridge between government stakeholders, local industries, and compliant international technology providers, supporting informed decision-making rather than direct procurement or sales.

Key Responsibilities

Government & Industry Engagement

  • Engage with municipal, provincial, and relevant public-sector departments to understand industrial development priorities, infrastructure needs, and high-level procurement frameworks

  • Support information gathering related to industrial upgrading, automation, and advanced equipment adoption

  • Assist in aligning potential cooperation initiatives with regional economic development strategies

International Technology & Supplier Coordination

  • Liaise with compliant Chinese manufacturers, technology providers, and equipment suppliers with experience in international markets

  • Support preliminary screening of technology providers based on compliance, technical relevance, and cooperation readiness

  • Coordinate information exchange between international suppliers and local stakeholders

Feasibility Studies & Pilot Project Support

  • Support feasibility studies, technical briefings, and early-stage assessments for potential industrial cooperation projects

  • Assist in the coordination of pilot projects, demonstrations, or proof-of-concept initiatives

  • Support documentation, reporting, and evaluation of early-stage collaboration outcomes

Recruitment Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Economics, or a related field

  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial projects, equipment coordination, technology assessment, or related roles

  • Strong organizational and cross-stakeholder coordination skills

Core Competencies

  • Understanding of advanced equipment, automation, robotics, or industrial upgrading concepts

  • Ability to work across government, industry, and international partners in a structured and neutral manner

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting capabilities

  • Familiarity with feasibility analysis, pilot project coordination, or technology evaluation processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with economic development agencies, industry associations, or chambers of commerce

  • Familiarity with Canada–China or international industrial cooperation environments

  • Professional working proficiency in English; Mandarin proficiency is a strong asset

  • Experience supporting publicly funded, pre-commercial, or pilot-stage industrial initiatives
